DRT, that is about the cuteist tracker I have ever seen. Congrats on the big doe.

This one was from last Sat. evenin.

October 15th, 2009, 07:35 PM
3 from the HSV urban hunt. The doe was the first one checked on the hunt came in right after daylight. The last Fri. and Sat. of the hunt seemed to be the best for me(most movement). Killed 1 Fri. eve and the other Sat. morn both deer stopped in the exact same spot, a small hole I could shoot through on the edge of a old road bed. I bet my arrows would have been 4" apart stuck in the dirt.

Doe @ 12 yards. (Exit)

8pt. from Friday evening @ 17yards
(Entrance, and a fresh .22 cal bullet wound - found the bullet)

7pt. quartering to me in the same whole as the 8pt.

nice deer. congrats. keep em coming.

Got 1 this morning on some private land near Charleston! He snuck in downwind and was smelling my trophy leaf estrus scents. Came in stiff legged and grunting circled to some Tinks Scrape juice I had out at 15 yds. Just as I released I saw a briar sticking out in the path and sure enough deflected arrow back. Hit behind left rib cage high and stuck in front right shoulder! went 130yds uphill with god blood for 10yds and then broke arrow off and blood stopped. I followed trail 120 more yds in a straight line even though it was going up and there he was! This is my first Buck ever with a bow although have shot several does. Prob wud have passed this one with a gun but A great bow buck for me! Even though a bigger 10 was jumped coming up the same trail as this one as I was dragging out! Heres a few pics from my phone with one of my homemade knocked arrow broke off.

You guys that have killed bucks this season need to go post them in the state competiton thread stickied on the bowhunting page. Post the pic and gross inches.

We would not be getting our butts kicked quite so bad if these deer were on the board.

October 29th, 2009, 06:05 PM
If I kill the one I'm after I'll post it over there.

October 30th, 2009, 08:23 AM
I checked that thread and most of those guys are posting some studs. I don't think my 95" Arkansas 8 pt is going to fit in. If I get something decent I'll post it.

Arkansas had no inches when I last looked so 95 would certainly help. Every inch counts atleast that's what the wife told me.:shade:

I took my daughter on her first youth hunt down to deer camp and the first morning we were fortunate enough to have this spike step out at about 45 yards. It was the first deer she has ever shot at and she dropped him in his tracks. The next morning we had a small doe come in and she made a perfect heart shot on her. It was a great weekend and something I'll never forget.

I took my 6 year old son down to camp during muzzle load season. It was his first time to get to go deer hunting with me. We didn't get any horns, but shot this nice doe. We were both excited and had a great time together.

Congrats HH!! Nothin like the younguns gettyng their first deer! My daughter got her first doe last year and has been after a buck this year! She has let several does and small bucks walk this year! We got close on a 8pt last night but lost sight of him in some tall grass. I have put most of my effort on finding her one this season since she will have some major surgery in December and be out for a few months. Will hunt hard next few weeks the hang up the bow and gun and hang out with her till she is recovered...there will always be next year to hunt!

Finally Saturday evening this guy comes in at almost 5:00PM. His is an 8 with one point broken off so is a 7 point. Heavy bodied buck. Probably 130-140 pounds. Shot him with rifle not bow sorry!

Shot him at maybe 90 yards. Heard him crash after running 40 yards. At first I heard him snorting and thought I missed. Turns out there was a spike over there with him I did not see. As you can see chopper is guarding him so no one takes him. GOOD dog!

Killed a buck with my bow yesterday. Thought it was a cull, turned out to be a main frame 8 with one side broke off just above the brow tines and g3 broke off on the other. Nice body though, 2.5 or 3.5 year old deer.

Took a decent 10 pt this morning with my muzzleloader! He has been seen a few times behind my best friends house last week so I went there twice this week Since he is in between muzzleloaders right now and couldnt go. He showed himself this morning and got a 50 yd shot. Glad to to get him because my sightings have been really numbered this year! I am use to seeing 10-20 shooters a year not this this year though.

December 21st, 2009, 07:36 PM

I killed this buck during the Christmas hunt. I thought I was shooting a good buck but was highly disappointed when I got up to hiim. Not that he's not a good deer but I wanted to kill something better than my first deer and thought I was doing so. It was a split second decision and I made it...oh well. This deer would have been a stud next year and years to come.

Got this guy the second day of MG.

Here's a pic from the stand
