: Did you shoot the buck you were after this past season?

January 21st, 2010, 05:00 PM
Well, another season is almost over for me, and i'm STILL after this buck. I had a few encounters with him last year, but never got a shot. We videoed him in June 09 and got three trailcam pics last year, but never saw him during hunting hours.

He made it through the season as of last week. A few more weeks are left to go, but it's looking pretty slim. :(

Did anyone get their "target" buck from the past season?

Post up some pics. :darkbeer:

Not me, had a few respectable bucks on the cams several times but just couldn't get one of the "shooters" within range! :(

Nope. I settled for a distant cousin of his. This is the one I've been watching all year. Only a 7 point mulie, but the dude has some nice size! Nobody got him so I'm anxious to see my trail cam pics next August. I've got over 100 pics of this one, and I was certain I would be posing with him in January. Too bad his girlfriend didn't like me hanging around. She wouldn't let me get close enough to shoot.

January 21st, 2010, 06:26 PM
nope, saw him the second weekend of the season and had him at 40 yds... I didnt feel comftable taking that shot, considering that I had only practiced that far of a shot maybe 5 times. But next year he will be bigger, and I will be ready!! here is a pic of him. I never got to see the other one, i got pics of him up until nov 15 then he dissapeared. the second pic id of the one that dispeared.

no i didnt get either of the 2 i was after. the 150 class 10 point got lucky twice and i just couldnt get a shot the first time. the second time he was on the wrong side of the fence.

the 165 class split G2 buck i never saw, but i have his pic on my trail cams.

i dont know if they survived or not. the land owner didnt shoot them and he hadnt heard of anyone getting them. i sure hope they made it through.
both will be real whoppers next year.

Yes, I killed a buck that I had passed one at least once two years ago and probably once last year.

I killed him on my second encounter with him this year. What's weird is we don't see him during the summer but the bladed G2 was a dead give awy it was the same buck I had seen earlier in the week.

Nope. Had him at 15 yards just needed a few more steps to clear some junk, but got busted by a spike when I started to draw  Hope he made it through the season!

I did shoot a decent 7 that is my biggest buck with a bow, so I'm pleased!

Nope. Had my sights set on getting a shot at one of two Ohio giants. Haven't drawn on either yet. Did see one of them about a week and a half ago. One more week to go.

January 21st, 2010, 10:46 PM
nope.. he is the one that is my avatar or what ever you call it..... my picture

January 21st, 2010, 10:47 PM
Nope. Heck I never saw a buck all summer, and one during bow season. But he was a biggie.

January 21st, 2010, 10:47 PM
I had four targets with no arrows shot at one. I had one of them at 40 yards, but no shot. I saw a ton of 2 and 3 year old bucks that I had withing 20 yards and passed them all.

January 21st, 2010, 10:54 PM
No I shot a 170" so I can't complain but my target was sneaky. He's about a 180" non-typical. Oh well, he will have another year to grow.

January 21st, 2010, 10:55 PM
I had a 180 class buck caught on camera several times. I was hunting him specifically. Never saw him in the flesh. :thumbs_do

I did shoot a dandy buck with tons of mass and character that I never had on camera and just "showed up" during the rut.

It's what keeps us going back!

Yep!! Once this guy hit 3.5, we started after him. He made it to 4.5 and I was blessed enough to get my opportunity at him.

January 21st, 2010, 11:06 PM
i got 2 bucks I always get tons of pics of. Our season ends feb. 20th, but by both of them being nocturnal I dont see myself or my father connecting with them. The closest my dad came to seeing him, was the one oddball running along the top ridge of a hill.

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d65/Spyder041/046-1.jpg the oddball

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d65/Spyder041/deer5.jpg this is the big 8 im after. If he survives, he will be a heckufa deer this season.

January 21st, 2010, 11:07 PM
Yep, got mine! Saw him 5 times at 60 yards before he came in to 42 yards... Double lunged him, and he ran for about 30 yards before he piles up :darkbeer:

Just to top the day off, I shot another smaller buck (antlers were actually broken off) and a doe within 15 minutes of shooting the big boy - how cool is THAT!

PS - sorry, pics are still on my camera - haven't downloaded them yet.
