View Full Version : Off Season Activities!!

November 10th, 2010, 03:24 PM
Just wondering what you guys do in the off season besides tune/practice, and the obvious. I shoot carp but was thinking about maybe trying to do some predator hunting from a ground blind. Any other ideas of stuff to hunt in the off season, or your favorite off-season bow-hunting activities? I'm from montana, so our season is nearly done.

I hunt squirrels, rabbit, coons, dove, groundhogs, turkey and go frog giggin, bass fishing and more. I love to go camping and being outdoors. I love tractor pulls and even the occasional lawnmower pull. I like to go to rodeos and horse shows and love to look at antiques and love to ride on the John Deere. I love bailin hay and hanging out around the grill. "Off seasons" are pretty full! :)

well we have doe seasons with gun that run clear to Jan 31st. then ill spend some time with the wife before spring roles around. Spring Gobbler scouting and hunting will take april and may. then its time to start practicing with the bow, fishing, kyaking, finding new hunting properties, ect. most the time in hunting or doing something for hunting from april through january which leaves 2 months to stay inside on weekends and maybe do a little 3d shoots.

CATFISH!!!!! Big Flatheads and blues on the line get my heart pumping almost as much as watching a deer walk in. Catching the best live bait and keeping it alive for flatheads is a chore on it's own. If i'm not hunting something, i'm fishing for something with wiskers.

These are all great activities for sure! I guess I was more interested in ideas related to bowhunting, maybe different animals that can be hunted legally during the offseason with a bow, or different ways to hunt them. I can think of coyotes, rabbits, carp, and that's about it. Anyone hunt anything else during the off-season (with a bow)?

November 12th, 2010, 05:00 PM
Camping, fishing, nitro powered 4x4 monster trucks, flea markets/garage sales, and 3d shoots.

November 12th, 2010, 05:41 PM
Fishinbuff. I bowhunt year round for coyotes, and I can say I enjoy it just as much as hunting for big game if not more because of the excitement of calling them into you! I dont use any blinds, just what the terrain gives me. I mostly set up in heavier cover when bowhunting coyotes. Remember bowhunting is a year round sport....enjoy it! Bowhunting coyotes can become very addicting!

Nice, that's what I was looking for. Think I'll definately try it. You use any decoys to get their eyes away from the draw, or just pull n' pray? :)

small game hunting

work on vehicles and boats

processing different game and non-game animals

spend time at the lake cabin with the wife and friends.

And work, so I have more hunting time off for the 2011 season.
