start your Fall season in the timber? We have an "expanded archery" (urban deer) in adition to our regular archery season here in Maine. Expanded starts in the special zones on September 7th. Can't wait, however, mosquitos are still pretty thick this time of season. I harvested a doe last September 14th, she still had most of her summer coat on.

October 1st!!! Hopefully I'll be up in a tree, out in the woods, with a monster buck (ok, maybe even a doe) 20 yards broad side (maybe quartering away a little) from me this time in exactly....4 months!!! Take it easy and try not to catch the cabin fever too early.

Archery season is Sept 28 - Oct 27 in Texas this year.

There is a youth rifle season on the last weekend of bow season though, Oct 26-27, so that's one weekend I won't be in the woods.... Can't figure out how TPWD ever decided that having inexperienced kids with rifles in the woods at the same time with camo'd bowhunters is a good idea.:(

I live in the upstate of South Carolina and Archery gets started on September 14. Down in the lower part of the state, they get started near the middle of August. Deer are everywhere and we are allowed to kill 10 them.

Here in Virginia we start with our first Urban City hunt on Sept. 21 thru Oct. 4, 2002. This is a new hunting season to us. These areas have been protecting these deer and now they have become a major problem. Goes to should how important hunting is in controlling the deer population. Our regular bow season comes in on Oct. 5, 2002. West of the blue ridge only has a 2 week gun season. Us eastern hunters have 7 weeks. After the 2 week season archery season will come back in Dec. 2, 2001 thru
Jan. 4, 2003 in the West.

Sept 2nd, only 5 days away! The bugs are treacherous but its fun to see the deer moving without anyone or anything changing their patterns. I'll hunt Delaware, then a week in Md. and then up to Massachusetts for the last week of Oct and 1st week of Nov for rutting bucks.
Good luck
