What do you guys use for a press? I am getting interested in servicing these and want to spend once instead of making a mistake.

Also - where do you get your strings and cables? Thanks for the help! Shel.

I use excalibur xbows so I don't need a press. However, when I worked on wheel bows, I used one of two Apple presses-both could accommodate xbows. The Hercules Apple is listed as being designed for xbows and most compounds. you need a steep angle in the press arms and an ability to put the two rollers close together to accommodate the short riser on xbows. I tell people just to buy factory strings-in a pinch I would tie them strings. You need lots of wraps-maybe 28 strands of dacron which can be a pain on some string jigs.

I tie strings for my competition rigs though

TenPoint sells a portable press. I have seen it in their catalog (Part # HCA-106).

I could not find it on their site though and do not know the best price available...

I did find it on thebowman.com for $159

Apple Archery makes a fixed press that does all bows including crossbows for ~$370?

I bought a Bowmaster portable bow press for my Excalibur Paradox. If you have split limbs you'll need the optional extention.

Shel,
If you are planning on working on several different types of crossbows, I would recommend the Apple Pro Hercules. This press will work on most crossbows as well as short axle to axle compounds.
These will run about $300.
