Hi Guys, I just purchased a 2 hole Trophy Taker arrow rest with a .010 size launcher, the problem I’m having is that the arrows I’m using (Easton Navigators 540) are not getting vane clearance from the launcher, now I’m sure all I have to do is get the smaller .008 launcher but before I did I just wanted to see if there was anyone else on AT that is using the .008 launcher and is getting vane clearance.

Thanks, your thoughts are very welcome

I'm assuming when you're referring to "2-hole" you're referring to the number of screws to holding the blade in place? If so, that would be the Cousin's "Best" blade on the TrophyTaker 2.

Quick comment first, just so you are aware the .008 uses thinner guage material but is not smaller/narrower across the tips compared to the .010. So just buying a new blade may not necessary clean up the fletch contact.

First thing I would suggest is, if you haven't already done so, tipping the back end of the arrow rest up. This will decrease the angle/pitch of the blade a little which will in turn make it react a little softer as well. Of course you'll need to re-set your rest position slightly afterwards to get back to your original level relative to square. Try re-tuning from there and see if you get the same amount of contact.

If still getting a little contact try moving the nock point up slightly, or possibly adding a little weight (maybe 1/8 to 1/4 turn) to the upper limb (or taking a little off the bottom if already maxed out). This will also move the nock point up slightly and cause the upper limb to pull the arrow up slightly upon release.

Then if all this fails I'd consider the .008 and try some of the things above. You may not get complete clearance with the vanes but it should be very, very light if you do. Afterwards try testing at longer distance for groups. I know many who have a little/minimal contact near the fletch end of the arrows but this shouldn't cause a problem if you are using a rest with a reasonable amount of flex.

Couple thoughts anyway...........:)

As Jeff said.
I use the same setup (but with 430's) and have no problems clearing teh rest, just moved the nocking point up till they cleared.
Or conversly move the rest down. ;)

I had the same problem, nav 480's with TT .010 (single hole), wouldn't group. Since I had .008 laying around I tried it, even though my arrows are 50 grains above TT guide lines, and it worked, tight groups. I adjusted nock height to be the same. I think the fletching still hits, but the rest flexes out of the way. Marcus and CHPRO have more experience and knowledge than I do and if I hadn't had the .008 handy, I would have tried CHPRO'S sugestion of rotating the rest for a flatter blade angle. Maybe I still will. But so far so good w/ the .008.
