Hi Guys, I’m hoping that someone can help me understand how the flight divisions are worked out in the compound unlimited group at Vegas.

From looking at last years results it seems that the flights are split up by score seeing everyone in Flight 1 have a much higher score than the guys in Flight 20 but what I don’t understand is are you put in a flight division after your day one scores come in or do you just shoot all three days and then at the end do they split you up into flights.

Thanks in advance :)

Peter

As I recall, you are flighted after 2 days and shoot with your peers on the last day. I suspect this is because the work of flighting everyone easier to do only once and also having flighting occur right before the final day prevents sand-bagging by some to drop into a lower flight

Flighting using the combined total of the first two days to determine flight is probably the most common method. However, I believe the WAF reserves the right to flight using 1st day alone, 1st+2nd days combined, or the total for all 3 days. I believe Flights for Sunday are more specifically shooting times and can change after all the dust has settled. At least that's how Vegas used to be advertised. Could be the WAF has opted to standardize the method and drop the other flighting strategies?

I can only speak for the last 2 years as those are my only experiences with Vegas. I am not sure if this change is temporary or permanent. Of course they don't flight the money classes so it is a moot point if you shoot for the $$

Being a 4 time vet of Vegas I can tell you they have always used the first two days scores to flight you into the third day. Luck has it I have been flighted towards the top the last 2 years and have come home with a little money.:) Just about enough to cover the entry fee.
