My 12 year old son got his buck while hunting his first year on November 4th in Northern WI - a nice 5 point. It was a really difficult blood trail but a great lesson for him. The buck doubled back on his trail twice. We ended up finding him in the lake after following the trail for over 4 hours. He died in a reed bed in about 1 foot of water (see the lake in the background).
In WI you cannot hunt until you have passed hunter safety and are at least 12 yo. He was in a tree about 15 yards from me and I was able to see the whole event take place. Great experience - I think I was more excited than he was. He got a double penetration shooting his browning - a great shot. I am one proud Dad.
