Well I finally got into a mess of crappie. Caught these today around noon in a strip pit just outside of Columbia. Caught all of them from the same brush pile. 23 total, biggest was 15" with about a 10" average.

Anybody else catching anything?

been out twice so far. Kept 12 the last time....its about to get right here...
warm up the grease boys. I wish I had a picture of our 23 fish stringer that weighed 25lbs...caught in about 3 hours....or the 17.5 incher I caught thats in the freezer that needs to be sent to the taxidermist. I got one that is 14 that will go 2+lbs on the wall. Love to crappie fish...not as much as bowhunting whitetails though.

Right now we are focused on the trout runs in the tribs. They're going bananas.

Crappies are starting to gather in the shallows now, and if we can get a few days of warmth, we'll be all good for some stellar spring fishing....

The past 2 days now a friend and I have just tore up some crappie on a local conservation lake. We caught 60 yesterday and 60 today. We only kept the ones over 9". We threw a ton back. It was funny because everyone we talked to thought the fishing was terrible, thats because they were using minnows. We caught them all on tube jigs. Probably won't be going tomorrow cause we're supposed to get some pretty good storms.

Here is a Hybrid that I caught a year ago, if you have never caught any the fight it always on. I love to try and fish for these now. I've had 2 break off last fall and one took my whole spool.

Before the crappies move in around here.
These were from May 15th last year.
All were between 11 and 12"

The crappie here are already done spawning, only catching males in the shallows now. Went back to a post spawn pattern and caught quite a few large females that were all spawned out.
