Does anyone know any good areas for trout around the Altoona area of PA?

Try Black Moshannon Creek, or even better... Drive to State College area and pick a stream...

There are some great fishing streams around State College. A friend and myself went to a Penn St football game a few years ago and we stopped at a couple different streams and had success. There were rising fish and it was awesome. I am sure it is just as good this time of year if not better. I am sure there is some sort of hatch going on.
