I have been shooting for about a year, but just recently have gotten to the point where I only want to work on my own stuff but I don't have anyone to show me how to do things. I just got a new (used) bow that so far I love except that the peep sight is about 2 inches too high for me. The draw length may also be slightly wrong but it is adjustable (the bow is a hoyt ultratec from 2002 with the command 2 modules). When I just slide the peep sight down, it then doesn't turn correctly to my eye. I am wondering if there is a way to move the strands around without a bow press? Anyone have any cool tricks to do this with no access to a press? In the future I plan to buy a bow press and vise but don't have the money right now.

Here's everything you need to know,
about adjusting the peep sight,
and swapping strands of string material
from the strong side to the weak side.

If caught short - I use a new field point to gently separate the strands and swap them over. It's gotta be gentle though - don't want to damage any strands.

I too am from WI, Just where abouts are you?

You can never go wrong investing in a good press, and a good friend who will show you the ropes.

I have a Bowmaster portable press and the quadlimb brackets. I perfer it to any ratchet strap press as it allows you to back the bow down gradually without chancing a derailment. It would definitely work with your bow.

I use a finishing nail which I have ground and polished the point on. Also, a little wax in the strands will help. I have been using Scorpion Venom liquid for this.
