Recently picked up a 02 cybertec target bow with the old versa cam. Cannot get rid of a 1.5" high tear.
Spec:60lbs 75% let off 29.5" draw. Rated at 308fps. 400 Nav FMJ 110gr point. Release shooter. Arrows should be fine for this set up. Archers advantage says they are anyway.
Previous set up: Mathews apex with similar spec. Arrows bullet!
Tried just about everything to get rid of the tear: Nock point, cam rotation, tiller, backing weight off, adjusting launcher pressure. Arrows are just acting weak. Bare shaft just drops out of the air. Tried 340 axis fmj cut to 28.5" and they do give a better tear. (Should be way too stiff) Can 2 bows with similar specs make so much difference to the effective spine?
Does anyone have any experience with the 02 versa cam?

What kind of rest?
What draw length slot are you in, and what draw stop slot are you in?
Is the bow entirely in spec per the Hoyt specs?

02 cybertec target bow
The Versa cam was one of the smoothest single cams to come out and coupled with the dual track wheel. My 02 UltraTec shot great as did my UltraTec with the Super smooth Excel cam. Basical set up for the Versa cam; -Max out limbs before anything- Check ATA. Have string coming off Versa cam in a smooth line and upper end of string nearest outside timing mark was the norm. Note; right side marks of wheel for right handers and left side marks for left handers. On both my 02s I had arrow shaft center slightly above center of berger hole. Nock height was set to no more than 1/8" high. Last I shot were the older CXL-250s - almost weak but still shot great. My guess would be contact somewhere. "bare shaft drops out of the air" has no meaning to me. Could you clarify?

Update.
Rest: Golden Premier. Checked for contact - none. Draw slot is H. Max length with peg in 75% (number 8).
Bare shaft - Noticed erratic arrow flight whilst shooting at 70m. Tried bare shaft which didn't even get to 50m. Timing marks on idler are in correct place.
340 axis fly ok, but are heavy and I think 90m will be a problem.
Thanks for the input.

When module is set for 28" as to the hoyt charts, arrow flight is perfect. Any increase in draw length on the module gives terrible arrow flight any very tail high tears. When set at 29.5 (max) it is unshootable. Any one else have this sort of experience?
Gave up with this bow. Pity cos it felt so good.

If you are able to tune it at a shorter DL but not at a longer one my guess would be that the increase in speed has caused the arrow to be underspined.
I would suggest two things. First set it to your DL and make sure it is tuned right (nock point is level after making DL change) . Then to increase the effective spine of the arrow without going to a stiffer shaft you could either lighten the point weight or lower the DW.
If either of those options fixes the erratic flight then you know you have a under spine issue.
Let us know how it goes.

if your shooting 70# a400 spine arrow is actually weak at that length 340's are actually a better choice

I used to have the same exact bow and if I remember correctly, using the longerst draw length setting could cause nock travel issues. I might be wrong but something about it when maxed out was just different.

I had two bows, one Hoyt and one Reflex, that had that cam. Good cam for me, but I was at 28" on it set at about 70% letoff. I forget the mod and stop positions, though. They both shot great for me and tuned quite easily, although they both wanted a bit stiffer arrow than one would expect they would like. They called it a medium cam, but it wanted an arrow spined for hard.

Has anyone out there got the tune charts WITH limb defelections for 2002 and 2003 to try and convert this cybertec to cam and half?
