There are several good string makers here on AT. Bucknasty is very popular.

As for making your own strings, I believe Deezlin sells string jigs here on AT. He could probably give you info on getting started.

Try the search option is the best way on here, type in string making and read away. There is the arrow & string section which will be a better place to look.

Deezlin here actually makes them and sells a jig so you can do it yourself. There are quite a few string makers around
Winner's Choice
Vapor Trails
Bucknasty
B2
Stone Mountain
Crackers

Welcome to ArcheryTalk.

There are two things you need to make a great compound string.

First is a string jig.
There are several styles.

2-posts
3-posts
4-posts.

With a simple 2-post jig,
you will need a spreader so you have room to spin the serving tool.

You can buy a plastic spreader.

Put the spreader into place,
and then serve enough to make your first end loop.

Rotate the string bundle,
so that the serving is split in the middle,
so you have the same amount of serving on both sides
around the post.

Some folks offset it a little for a smoother transition.

Now, you can put on the end serving (serve both halves together).

The bungee cords makes a huge improvement in quality.

Practice with a cheap spool of Dacron B-50 string material.
Make say 25 strings with B-50,
and then you will get the hang of it.

Practice does make perfect.

Here's another by Stringmaker about constant twist rate.

The second important part is to have a string stretching device.
You can make your own,
or you can buy one.

Here is an excellent thread
about stretching to 300 lbs of tension,
and then twisting the string bundle (uniformly)
and then applying the servings.
