I have a new martin Monster Buck Hunter from Dick's sporting goods. I have read that I don't need a bow press to do work, I can simply loosen the limb bolts to get enough slack to install peeps, change modules etc. Is this true?
Thanks,
Joe

You can back out the bolts far enough to remove tension from the string. Just make sure you back them out evenly and if you look through the hole on the barrel nut through the riser you will see light once the bolts are out far enough. When you see light stop, thats far enough. No you can put in a peep, leeches do what ever you want even change limb and pockets. Nice feature on martin bows.

Very dumb question to follow this up.

I'm getting a Bengal. I understand how you can take "enough" tension off to put in peep/whiskers. But what about enough to add/remove cable twists for cam leans and what-not?

If so...wow! If not, I'll be ordering one of those little handheld presses.

You can do anything to a Martin bow with only an allen key (wrench). You can change limbs or the string/cables without a press. It's easier with a press, but not necessary.

Doc is right, they will back off enough to totally dismantle the bow. A great feature.

I tried this with my 2007 Bengal, and once I got it backed out enough to see good light through the holes in the riser, I still didn't have enough slack to comfortably do any work to it. Had to break out the Bowmaster.
