Let's hear it fella's,when hunting season rolls around,do we get ready for the season,or do we make sure the "honey do list" is complete first:mad:
I will probably get some flack for this but....I tell my wife when it's hunting season,I don't care if someone dies, gets married, gets divorced, get hit by a train, get abducted by aliens,I'm getting ready for hunting(scouting, hanging stands etc..)end of story. Now,a medical emergency with our son or with my wife is different, that is the only thing that will keep me from hunting PERIOD!!!!!
No dinner at mothers,no birthday parties,no anything.

who else?

Me, I'm in the trees baby... well, this year I was humpin the hills in MT when the season opened here.. and the only reason I ain't been out yet here is cause we had a lot of work to do to get our new lease ready for the season... so.. now it's time to cash in... :whoo: :hungry: :D

Becky & I have been married for going on 8 years & even before that she knew one thing about me up front.

Hunting season is my time of year, from the first weekend of October to the first weekend of January every weekend I'll be in the woods.
There will be no cell phone calls to me or from me during that time unless I'm on my way home with one early.
She will know the vicinity of my location within 2 miles but not exact location "this is my time."
On weekends that my oldest is home I will hunt half a day, which half is at my discression."

So far she has tolorated this time of year & me participating in my sport of hunting.

I've allready helped out at the hunt club set 8 stands including mine & set up my property for my soon to be 6 year old & I to hunt "in a ground blind" this year.

Mine loves to eat vension as much as possible thus demands that I bring as much home as possible. Also loves it because it makes me nicer and more at peace, and she loves hearing the stories I have to tell.

My brothers and I don't even get invited to family functions anymore. Everyone knows it is a waste of time.

As for a honey do list... My wife knows that unless the roof caved in, it can probably wait.

Remmie, the one reason that your parents, and you now celebrate the many anniversaries that you do...you put your significant other first.

Congrats on being all that you can be.

Sad thing...I am single and still put my son, and the need of others before my own. I have not been out hunting in the last 2 years.

I have taken up hunting dear, though. :embara:

Well, I told my wife I hunt hard from Oct to Dec before we got married. She said no problem, we would spend Sundays (no Sunday hunting in VA) together and a hunting trip every now and then would be ok. She lied. We almost got divorced. We spent some time apart, she got a job. After a while she decided not seeing me a few days in the fall was better than losing me forever.

I think she just didn't like to work:wink:.

My wife and I have a great understanding when it comes to hunting. She pretty much lets me hunt as I like, but its a gift I regard highly and dont abuse. If I notice she is having a bad day or week, I will stay in the house with the kids and not hunt. That way she can go out shopping or out with girlfriends to unwind and recharge the batteries. She doesnt voice any objections about my hunting because she knows I dont take the "gift" lightly.

My wife of 17 years knows i will be in the woods , maybe not all day , but as often as i feel up to it. although, last year, after having hunted about 40 days and having passed on shooting 28 bucks, i told her i had been patient and was going to shoot the next buck to come by regardless of size, she said, and i quote," i have been patient too" :eek:enough said but, its a new year, its also 3:45pm, which means time too get dressed for evening hunt #3:wink:

My wife will probably be in a tree opening day. Myself, well I will probably be out there somewhere, looking for Bambi or Bucky, simply because she wants me to hunt too. Otherwise, I would do something different, simply because I do not care to hunt that much myself. I was never exposed to hunting while growing up and I didn't even know anyone that hunted, so it just doesn't really interest me. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with my wife hunting, or anyone else for that matter, because I do like venison as much as she does.
Her addiction comes from hunting with her father for the last several years. This year will be different, since he passed away August 19, at the age of 81.
Anyway, happy hunting everyone.

In memorium,
So long Paul, I enjoyed being your son-in-law and the times we spent doing things together. You will be missed.

Regards, Colin

Depends on how young a wife one has...in some cases the mother inlaw could end up the same age as the husband...theres a few guys like that around here :)

I'm with CountryWoman, as long as Hollywood is taken care of, I'm out there with my hubby. :D :D If for some reason responsibilities get in the way I would expect him to go out without me but he won't.

I understand the concept of the family that plays together stays together but Mother's In-laws is just over the line no matter what. INMHO :D

LMAO...........Speaking of messed up. Everyone knows that Jeff and I have been friends for 12 years, he has been a part of my kids lives since they were babies so they have always called him Uncle Jeff. We had to make sure that Hollywood understood that she couldn't go around telling everyone that her Mom was marrying her Uncle Jeff. :chortle:

I've figured out after the 1st wife that it's perfectly legal to hunt both types of whitetails. October thru january it's 4 legged, meat on the table whitetails and January thru december it's whitetail 24 hrs a day 7 days a week and if it's meat on the kitchen table ,well I'm there!!!!:set1_tango2:

My wife knew that I hunted before we got married so when she starts her crap with me about opening day I tell her just how it is and just how its gonna be.

Then I pick myself up off the ground and do the dishes like she told me to do:embara:

j/k

She dosen't care that I go hunting just so I come back with some deer meat for her every now and then.

my wife doesn't understand, and we get into it quite frequently over hunting. I have left in the middle of a conversation for my weapon of choice on my way out the front door, mid sentence sometimes.
