I went to a golf shoot for the first time today, using a friend's Bob Lee, had an absolute blast, and now I have a recurve bug whispering in my ear. What is your recommendation for an entry level recurve at a good price?

you just shot it today - make it 35lbs and you should be good to go

The "bug" is a good thing:)
I am far from an expert, but this is what has worked for me.
Ive shot compounds from the mid 50's to mid 60# range for 22 plus years.
The best advice i received when buying traditional, was to "not overbow yourself"
I bought a HOYT Gamemaster II @ 40#, which pulls around 45# at my DL.
I'm very pleased with this set up, it is a terrific bow for around $400.00.
Good luck.:)

The Martin X200, or Bear Grizzly seem to be good cheaper bows. I think no more than 45# is where you should start.

I don't mean to highjack this thread, but what is a golf shoot?

It's where you set up in the brush next to a golf course and try to shoot balls out of the air. JUST KIDDING!!

In a golf shoot, targets in a very open area, in our case, and old strip-mine lease, are placed 200-500+ yards apart (you need a few square miles to execute this game properly). Multiple recurve or longbow shooters aim up at a 45 degree angle and try to place their arrow "on the fairway". Everyone walks down and finds their arrow, and shoots again. A few shots later, everyone is near the target, which is usually a large stuffed animal, a bag, or a foam-filled spinning wheel hanging for a limb. When you hit the target, your number of shots is recorded. Then you trudge off to the next launch site. After ten "holes", the archer with the lowest score wins. The game usually involves a few miles of walking and four to eight hours of hunting lies and general BS, but it is a great time overall.
