Here is the deal - I stained using aneline dye, dipped twice in gasket lacquer, then crested with 3 rivers pro cresitng paint (acrylic - can be used over and under gasket lacquer) waited a day and sprayed cresting(to protect it from running prior to final coat in gasket lacquer) with clear lacquer. It cracked the cresting paint. Did I not wait long enough for cresting to dry? This is 2nd attempt - first attempt failed (same thing happened using different Hobby store cresting paint) when I dipped those back in gasket lacquer cresting ran. I used a thin coat of cresting so "to much paint" was not the issue.
When using this method what kind of time do you allow between cresting and covering with spray and then what time from that point to final dip in gasket lacquer?
Is the spray clear Lacquer the issue - should I use water based spray poly instead? I am close, I just don't want another dozen arrows with smeared cresting
