I wanted to try to trap a bobcat. I have heard they are easy to trap if you know where some are working. Well just before the end of hunting season, I was walking along a long-closed road and found some bobcat scat on the road. Seems like they were visiting a site along the main road where people throw their deer carcasses. Someone threw out two full antelope and they were going there. So I built a cubby. I was told to build a wooden structure 18x18x32 and put chicken wire on three sides, then haul it to the woods and cover it. He said to just make sure they can see thru it, or they won't go in. Well instead, I built a structure out of what I could find in the area, very close to those dimensions. I built it up off the old road I was walking. Its heavy old timber, hemlock cedar bottom. I put up a flasher of folded aluminum foil. I put stepping sticks on each end and put the grass for them to step on, will disguise the traps with this grass, two on each end.
Any suggestions? Time is short, as the quota gets filled really quick around here.
You can see the flasher in the last pic.

Bobcats are very easy to catch if they are in the area.

However ... you look like you have "over somplicated" a set for cats.

Get soem beaver meat, skunk essence and use feathers for a visual attractor. Use a foothold and make a flat set ... or use a cage trap.

Good luck.

This queen was caught by hindfoot (removed today) on a modified dirthole with fishoil for lure in a KB 5.5 Compound with laminated jaws.
