I didnt have enough money to buy an sts from my local shop so I just grabbed one of the replacement pads from there and made a string stop at work on the mill and the lathe out of some scrap aluminum.... works great!

I did this on a manual mill and an old lathe.. dont really have enough experience with cnc yet to make a program for it... I also made one for my buddy and he likes his as well.... it saved a little bit of money to just buy the sts stopper head for $8.

any time you can make something is good ,you know that. i had my friend make me a sight bracket. never thought of the string stopper. i will see if he can get a program going. maybe come up with some crazy shape.
