Anyone here have any luck with using deer calls, rattling, or the doe bleat cans in attracting bucks here in Florida?

This past season, I used the doe bleat can twice. called in a buck the first time and a doe the second time. I was very suprised at how fast they came in to the call!! I have not had any luck with rattling or buck calls but the can definately peaks their curiosity.

I havent really ever had much reaction to a deer call except to stop a passer by. The can never really seems loud enough to me to hear it that far away.

well from "what im told" the rut is hott during archery season.. last year i only hunted general gun and the rut was so called "over" so im told that if you use calls while deer are not in rut your just wasting your time and possibly making the deer go further away.. But i tried my grunt this year and nothing happened.. then again i was on public wma so thats a factor also.. lol

I don't know what area you hunt in- but you can find out your local "rut dates" on the fwc hunting site. Around where I hunt- central zone- the rut is around october.

I have only hunted deer for the first time this past season and started during general gun.

I did witness does grunt calling each other in just the last month.

I'll be sure to have a fawn bleat can for this comming archery season.

i swear by my primos deer grunter !!!! i can't begin to tell you the deer i seen RUN at me from grunting at them !!!!

the can works okay,,,but rattling works better. i rattle and grunt together and it gets the bucks moving. i am SOLD by the grunt tube in south florida,,,but dont even waste my time using it in connecticut.

I hunted the south in the everglades during archery and the rut was on for about the first 2 weeks. I used the lil can by primos about every 30 minutes it workes really well. I was able to shoot a 6 at 20 yards. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/Jinkzsays/008.jpg

Good job on the 6. By everglades you mean Big Cypress or another place. With the sneakers on, I figured you were getting wet.

I was in big cypress using 10" snake boots. I had my stand on the edge of a swamp, pines in front of me swamp in back. the deer actually ran into the swamp after the shot ,it was so deep my boots got full of water. I dragged the deer half way out stoped went to my truck put my sneakers on and went back in for the deer. Im actually shooting a done deal which has a longer brace height than the truth2 its not as fast but fast enough. its also durable i put it through alot last year, from swamps and rain in florida to freezing temp in missouri, other than some rusted screws its in great shape I love it I have taken 2 hogs 2 does and that buck with it.

The rut usually start late Jan first of Feb in my part of the panhandle. I've used the can, and buck roar. They seem to work okay. Last year i had a nice 8 point come in to it.

For me calling has done more harm then good. I must be doing some thing wrong! Last season I spooked 3-4 deer trying to call them in.
