I'm fairly new to archery, and want to start tweaking my equipment, i've searched past threads, but came up empty handed. Is there a difference in the fine tuning steps taken with different bow brands? Are there things you can and can't do to one vs. another?
there arn't alot of shops around, thats the main reason I want to learn, and I also do most of my own gun smithing, and work on my own truck, I figured if I can figure those things out, tweaking my own bow will be just as satisifying.
Learn as much as can about the bow you have. Type of limbs, type of cams, length of draw, length of strings/cables,brace height, axle to axle length, write all of this down and keep with your bow stuff to keep a record as it will come in handy down the road. Just try to get your feet wet with the bow you have, searches on AT can teach you alot. There will be similarities with other bows of your type, dont worry about other bows for now, wait until you are familiar with yours.
Not taking anything from what has been replied, working, tweaking, fine tuning a bow is pretty straight forward. After learning about your bow don't be afraid to try things. You'll quickly find what works and what doesn't.
Big suggestion here; Go to General Archery Information - tons of stuff in there.
