What happened to this bird, it has 2 spots on it where the breast feathers are gone? I wanted to get this mounted, but not sure if I can. Will I still be able too....maybe if I did a flying type on the wall.
They rub the breast feathers off while breeding and they rub off the breast feathers while they are roosted. They lean on nearby limbs when they are roosted.
I heard that the bald spot on the breast bone is actually not from breeding, but that when a turkey roosts on a limb they "squat" down on the limb and place their breast bone on it. It gives them more stability. It makes more sense to me, cause I've never seen a hen with a bald spot on its back from breeding.
if the taxi is any good you ll never know it was like that
