Some people just dont belong in the woods...So freaking sad! Cant believe that some people are so clueless!!! Poor kid cant imagine what was going through his head...
Same as the story from last year, the only difference is the age of the boys. Another case of shooting at sound or movement, this crap keeps happening and I don't understand it. I have never shot at a sound or movement I couldn't identify and the thought would never cross my mind when I know MY SON IS SOMEWHERE OUT THERE.
I know it's crazy! Following a few simple rules is all it takes to keep this kind of stuff from happening. Have you ever noticed when hanging around other people while hunting or shooting that the ones that didn't grow up with guns are the most dangerous and make you the most nervous. The ones that grow up with their dad kicking their you know whats when they didn't handle the firearm properly, checking to make sure it's unloaded before handling it, always pointing in a safe direction and so on, are the ones I avoid hunting with. Of course there are exceptions but growing up with a good role model is a great thing. Being unsure of the target and firing is absolutely nuts.
Truely a sad thing to read and try to understand.
My sympathy and prayers go out to all the family including the father who will have to live with this the rest of his life.
i cant understand how you can get so worked up over trying to shoot a turkey that you shoot something that u have no idea what it is. Its unbelievable and a bad image to all hunters. Hopefully this guy learns form his mistake and my prayers go out to the victims family.
i just got done reading and posting on the thread where a buddy's brother has cancer and i come to think, click the link, and before it even fully loaded i saw the title and just dont have the heart to read it. BE CAREFUL FOR GOD SAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we loose enough family members and loved ones to things that are way beyond our control
I taught my kids from day one to IDENTIFY THE TARGET before you ever think about pointing your gun at something. Terrible situation... I agree with you all!
Terrible....had a death last year here in wv with two teen boys. One shot the other while turkey hunting....can't imagine how a person would ever be identified as a turkey.
that is a sad story and I feel sorry for the father but how could someone mistake a bird for a person. people need to under stand the importance of firearm safety.
happened 10 mins from where i was opening day , i was picking my bird up when the emergency vehicles went by (i was wearing all black from the blind) and that gave me a reminder for sure
800+ at the funeral last night my boss said the guy is on so many drugs he doesn t know his own name
its too bad but no excuse
