I need some feedback. I just recieved myEpek XC3 Broadheads and put them on my Axis arrows. I noticed when I put the washer on they don't spin as well without them. Is the washer really necessary? Also I don't see the purpouse for the rubber o-ring. The blades do not seem like the will open without it. Any input appreciated.
I will bite................The washer is part of the 100 grains for one thing and the other reason for it is because it is made of a harder substance than the insert on your arrow. When the blades deploy and are under pressure from being pushed through tissue and bone, the blades will press back into the washer and it will stop the blade from pressing a groove into your insert. Allowing that to happen will also make the cutting diameter smaller if the blades roll back further. The o ring has one purpose. That is to put the needed amount of friction on the head so it doesn't open on inertia. The force out of the bow will try and make the outer shroud come back and release the blades to open in flight. The O ring wont move back on inertia but will on impact. Both things are pretty important to the proper function of the broadhead. More so the O ring.
