King's land that I mostly hunt is south of blockton. I do know the other land you are talking about. The bluffs you are talking about is ****** stewart's land. I haven't hunted it for a few years. There are usually guys down from des moines hunting it during bow season. Your land does hold lots of deer. I remember years ago the coyote dogs going through there and tons of deer ran out. Dave Nalley has some land northwest of yours and deer always seem to come into his field too!!!

You talking about hunting Jerry King's land? The last couple of days I have been driving around Taylor County and scouting out areas of timber that are butted up with CRP and crop fields. Got to get out the plat map and start calling land owners.

My dad and his sister own around 650 acres straight north of Sand's Timber (some of the land butts right up to the lake) and own a few acres along Vail Ave. (dirt road past Gray's house). I have seen some decent bucks on our property, but passed on all of them. Since I moved back this year as well didn't get a great opportunity to really scout it much. It was frustrating, looks like a place that would hold alot of deer and saw lots of deer sign, but just not the concentration I would expect. Have some decent timber too, but for whatever reason did see many deer in it.
Is Sand's Timber totally open for public hunting. My dad talked about hunting the "bluffs" around Blockton have you hunted it at all during bowseason?

Yep. Thats my sister!! I mostly hunt taylor county. We did get a nice buck out of Sand's timber during shotgun season. I usually hunt a few miles west of Blockton. Usually hunt King's land too. But didn't make it there this year. I think I will get an archery only tag again for turkeys. It is tough. But, it is a lot of fun. And I get to hunt longer that way!!

I have lived around Blockton my whole life. I went to school in beford also. You would be about the same age as my sister Sammi Jo. My season was great. Got a buck and doe during bowseason. And also did well during shotgun season. I'll be hunting the antlerless season too.
