    Hi Tony,

I finally got to read your book and I would love me to commend you for an excellent job. It's one of the best archery books have read. Due to shoulder issues my doctor shutdown my competitive compound shooting for a while so I picked up a light weight recurve to shoot for now. I used your book to reacquaint myself with instinctive shooting. Thank you.

    Regards,

    Hi Viper,
I'm your fan, have been reading your posts for ears. I was wondering if you could help me to make a right decision in buying a new bow? I'm used to 60" hunting bows, even though I have a 28", with a low wrist grip and 28 1/2 " with a high, draw length, but everyone insist that I'd be better off with a longer bow? I decided to buy a new ILF riser/limbs and was thinking to go with a 62" ( after reading your post where you said that 62" can easily handle 28 1/2" DL which made me really happy 'cause I really don't want to go with a longer bow for hunting & some 3D ) If 62" bow is OK with my DL could you be so kind and let me know what you think would be a better way to go for a 62" bow: short (19") riser/medium limbs or a long (21") riser/short limbs? I personally like better shorter limbs, I like speed and ...."aggressiveness" of short limbs but if I have to go with longer bow I will because at the end of a day I want a god reliable, factional bow.
    Thank you very much!

    Hi Viper,

I have read a number of your posts and then learned about your book. In looking at the book on Amazon I saw the photo of Comanche Bowmen. I was a member during the early and mid 90's. I was wondering if I might know you? My name is Mike Schwartz.

    Regards.

I just realized you are the author of Shooting the Stickbow. Thanks for your help on the forums, and your book will hopefully be in my hands soon. I ordered it last week. : )

No plans for a digital copy in the near future. I'm a little old fashioned that way, and prefer to have it as a hard copy.

Viper, whats the chance of you releasing a Digital copy of your book. Outside of "The Archers Bible" all of the books on archery I own are on my Kindle. The wife doesn't see them starting to build up that way :p

Starting out with a recurve bow for target practice and I read your post on the recurve bows. Based on your advice, I bought two vintage bows through ebay. One Ben Pearson Pony and one York Crescent. Both are #35. I know the Pony needs a 56" string but I was wondering if you knew what would be needed for a 66" york crescent that should have a 8" brace height according to this (http://www.tradtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3153).

Also, in the post, you recommend aluminum arrows. Is it okay to use aluminum arrows with vintage bows? I was under the assumption that I had to use wood?

    Hey Jack -

Thanks, not usually a fan of carbons, how does the bow sound with that arrow? Mine have been pretty good, but some of them have been a little louder than I'd like (OK, a lot of the guys who bought then aren't big into tuning, LOL...).

Speaking of arrows, since our buddies at Easton discontinued the Navigators, do you know if the ACG's are a direct replacement, haven't seen any yet.

Have a great new years, my friend,

    Tony,
I've found another arrow that works great out of my Marksmen TS-4. It's a Carbon Express Predator II in 800 spine, left full length (30") with an 82gr point and 3 4" feathers. I know you don't care for carbons, but these are so cheap ($50/doz. including nocks and inserts) that I had to try them. The finished arrows come in at 305gr which translates to 8.5gr/in. out of the Marksmen 36# @ 28". They also offer a 700 spine which might work better for you. You really ought to give them a try.

hey tony, this is Sol. So good news man, i decided to jump on the Hoyt eclipse bandwagon and went for it. it was barely used, and i got it at cost from lancaster. Shot it today and got my first 25/25, but the bow definitely needs your tuning..

Also got my dozen platinum plus' full length 2" vanes and G nocks. The knocks are a bit loose on my serving tho.. but i don't have my new string yet, so i'll have to see if its any better.

Another thing is i got my limbs back and it turns out they were fine, and it was me screwing up the limb adjustment on my KAP.. so everything's fine now. I should be at the range on tuesday. Hope to see you there

I replied to your PM. The one thing I didn't mention was that, while what I described is mostly used for recurve shooters, it also works for compound types. The later is harder because the compounds typically "attack" the shoulder in a more vulnerable position.

Hey Viper, I noticed that in a post you mentioned that you like the Cavalier elite tab and SAM tabs. Are you able to shoot 3 under with these tabs? Again, I'm just startin out...do you suggest trying tabs over gloves? Thanks!

Greetings, could you offer any opinions on what brand, style, construction for me on a recurve riser and type of limbs. I'm shooting indoor currently averaging around 240+ with my Samick Aqualla and samick 25lb wood/glass priviledge limbs. I'm aware of different brands but, not what advantages are. Your book has been by my side daily but I need more in depth knowledge. Obviously the prices negate an intelligent decision, I don't want to do this on a regular basis.

Or if you think I might be better to stay where I am score wise or maybe just a limb or weight change. Thanks in advance.

Lol, I am asking you here due it being a question about you.
How much time do you spend shooting that many arrows? I am just curious.
