Question: got any XX78 2314's? :darkbeer:
I have to respectfully disagree.
I have several XX75 2213's and XX78 2314's with multiple pass-thrus that spin perfectly and are back in the hunting quiver.
The arrow, which is anywhere from 22/64" to 25/64" in diameter, is passing directly behind a hole from 1-3/16" to 1-3/4" in diameter from a mechanical broadhead at what, 250 to 280 fps? Is that hole...
That....and believing all the propaganda about carbons. Such as how much the arrow flexes on impact and how it robs penetration. Or how a small shaft penetrates better...behind a 1-1/2" hole!
I have shot many deer with XX75 2213's and mechanical broadheads (Rocky Mountain Revolutions and NAP Spitfires. I've never had any penetration issues ever.
I would bet Jackhammers would perform...
Now you're playing word games! When have you EVER read "well, carbons don't bend, unless they're broken"? It's always been they are straight....or they are broken. As in shattered or snapped. Not...
Are you going alone? If I was, I'd be after two-legged game!
Maybe no game animals. I wonder if it's good for bowfishing?
He's not blaming the wood frame. His point is that the mantra has always been "it's straight or broke-they don't bend." And his shaft is not broken, but it's bent. And so was mine.
Carbons can take a set. This is a CX-300 that I thought was bent. I laid it on a flat surface. You can see daylight under the area where it is no longer straight.
I had this proven to me by the...
Great read. Yes, contact between Czechoslovakia and the West was difficult at best at that time.
Good luck on your search! Jízdné dobře!
I still have an Infinity sight laying around. Had it set 20-30-40 and could move the bottom pin 50 to 60. I like my HHA's better, but that's a nice mod you did there!
I think be will be fine with a 2314. I get excellent flight out to 40 yards with a Magnus Snuffer with my Evo and 2314's and penetration is off the charts. Accuracy is superb, too.
I think I heard today that ESPN received over 11,000,000 brackets and as of end of all games yesterday, less than 275 people were still alive!
Go Terps! Men and women!
I shoot 27" XX78 2314's with 125 grain heads out of my Evo (specs listed in sig). They shoot great, weigh a shade under 500 grains and penetrate like crazy.
And it makes an Evo dead quiet.
We are a lot alike! I felt exactly the same way. Never had an issue with pass-thrus with my XX75's or XX78's, but I certainly did with carbons.
Why? Because they are "told" they are better. And they believe what they are told 99% of the time without really checking it for themselves. Carbon has been touted as "straight or broke", but that is...
I do not think hot melt glue is recommended for carbons.
No, you just know how to pull an arrow from a target!
125 grain original Magnus Snuffers.
I had a 6-pak laying around for years and finally set up some XX78 2314's to try them with. Accurate out to 40 yards and the one deer (a good-sized doe) I...
Easier to refletch. Easier to remove inserts (or turn when tuning broadheads). Not much need to check for spine consistency. Or straightness when new. Lower price for superior straightness specs.
When I was looking for a good aluminum shaft out of my 28" draw 60# Trykon years ago, 2213's did not show up on the hunting shaft chart. But they were the #1 choice for a target shaft. So as I was...
You can normally find shafts on eBay or the AT classifieds. But yeah, it's not like it used to be. I just bought another dozen of the 2314's in digital camo. Hopefully the current ones I have, that...
Switched two years ago back to XX78 2314's with NAP Twisters. Great accuracy and hit like a hammer.
So did I. I liked how he said his eyesight wasn't what it used to be, so he stopped shooting tossed aspirins and went to a much larger target- Lifesavers candies lol!
I think he was shooting an...
Almost forgot. I was hunting turkey's in Western Maryland, and while cutting between some rows of brush I heard a rattlesnake right under my boot. I jumped 6' in the air! Turns out it was a black...
Probably 20 years or so ago I was hunting PA's firearms opener in Wyoming SF. I was perched on a rock about 30' up the side of of a hill overlooking a draw. It was about 5 degrees out-extremely crisp...
Is there anything stopping one from bowhunting in rifle season? I haven't taken my rifle out in seven years, and only used my muzzleloader three years ago when I fractured my arm.
These are 2314's at 40 yards.
One is a 125 grain field tip; the other is topped with one of these:
Can't help ya. I shoot Easton FM's lol!
