any time you increase the weight on the front of your arrow the dynamic spine decreases giving you a weaker arrow.
i've killed more than a few deer with the steelhead xl's and three turkeys. never one issue with them.
just about any descently heavy shaft and coc head will work. you might want to check out the nap hellrazors. i used them last year . they tuned easy and shot right with my fieldtips out to 60yds. ...

i took a rabbit at 65 yds, my first deer also was a 22yd shot no sights and fingers hard quartering away with an hoyt fps plus
i shoot like that and with very good success. very proficient out to 80, keep my hunting range down to 40 or 50 depending on the wind. of course with anything consistency is the key.

i have had no issues with the stock strings.
i always set up my equipment with slightly stiffer spined arrow. these new bows really tend to tune easier with them
