Great deer and good story
Killed this buck today in Hillsdale County. Him and three other bucks were chasing a doe around my stand before...
One year I killed a buck on the opening morning of gun season. I got out of my stand, drug the buck over to my tree, and climbed back up. An hour later another buck came by, saw the dead buck under...
Haven't seen anything I want to shoot yet.
That's an awesome buck!!!
Don't "short change" yourself.
I live in Michigan and also hunt Ohio. That's a nice buck anywhere.
Sit facing away from the direction the deer come from. Keep the trunk between yourself and the deer.
430 gr. Arrow
Nice deer trob_205!!!
What's the plan for the rest of the season?
I do it every week during season.
We work a 28 day rotating shift.
7 day shifts
1 day off
7 afternoon shifts
2 days off
7 midnight shifts
4 days off
If I never spooked deer walking "to or from" the stand and I always had good a good wind direction. I would sit the stand until I no longer saw deer or I killed one.
I hunt where the deer are and other hunters aren't. It might be miles in or only 100 yards from the road. Wether the walk is long, hard, short, or easy has nothing to do with where I hunt.
Welcome home and nice deer!!!
Get the Hoytech or a Mathens.
Very good advice!

The mature bucks I've killed in October were always on opening day. I've also seen many nice bucks on the opener that disappeared until November. Our opener in Michigan is October 1st. In 34 years of...
I've seen deer walk down a trail retracing the steps one shot earlier that day. When the deer reached the gut pile she snorted and ran.
But only on opening day.
All the behavior you listed above is normal for this time of year. There's a lot of misconceptions among hunters about the "rut". The rut refers to "the breeding season". It begins in early October...
They would also sell more tags this way.
I live in Michigan.
For fishing I love where I live.
For hunting I don't. Actually the deer numbers here are good. The trophy potential is terrible though and number of hunters is overwhelming.
I've been leasing hunting land in Southern Michigan and Northwest Ohio for over a decade. In Michigan the Southern region is considered the "big buck" area and we've killed some very nice bucks over...
