Society fir Creative Anachronism. I do target archery with them. I don't so much NEED a heavy bow for it, but it's helpful when they do clout shoots.

    Ml-14 65#@28"....??@31"?

So I'm looking at a used Martin ML-14 (68" AMO) that is 65#@28"but I have a 31" draw. Anyone care to hazard a guess at the draw weight at that length? I'm thinking 74-76lbs.

I'd second the Samick bows and even go so far as to recommend a 35lb sage or journey (depending on your draw length). If you get one of those you'll be able to upgrade to s higher draw later for...

I have custom all wood ELB's (I make them) and a 110lb Martin bow that's based on the Barta Bow the make for 3rivers. All those bows are way over powered for the targets that they use at SCA events....
  14. Greatree Solo Deluxe vs. Samick Trailblazer

I have shot true English longbows for awhile and have been shooting a Samick Sage for about a year. I like a higher draw bow so the Sage has 60# limbs, with my 31" draw it runs about 72#. I'm looking...

    Momentum

Granted this is not with a compound or with carbon fiber but I think this shows the extreme effect added mass has on the momentum of the arrows. The 750 gr ipe shaft (red capped) hit the target first...

I'm guessing your "instructor" is a compound shooter that uses a string mounted peep sight.

I've never closed either eye when shooting a bow.
