    This^^^^ No need to remove cables or string from cam. Secure the threads to the cam ( i use zip ties ) back out the axle and change spacers.

    I serve the cables in the slide area on a couple of my personal hunting bows and have never had any issues with separation or slide wear. I use .014 HALO.

    Verify that the string and cable are the correct...

    Verify that the string and cable are the correct length. You need to be with-in an 1/8 or so. A short cable can cause some lean. The check is easy enough and cost nothing.

    Like you did, I always hook to the string rather than the d-loop. To me, it just makes sense to do that. It would take a string failure to cause any issue......and a safety loop aint gonna save you...
