Had a bird gobbling hard last Friday. He came danger close but I couldn't see him due to topography. Then the hens showed up and ruined it. That was at 2 pm when he got hot.
I am thinking about it. I am just trying to decide where its at on my "want meter".
Yeah I knew it was a hen. Thought it was a neat picture though. Here is another picture. Looks like she is gobbling, but there is a male bird there. Can't tell jake or gobbler....
Be hitting this spot tomorrow about noon I have some acres to roam on if these don't show.
Find the strutter
Whats the draw length currently set at?
Love finding them. Working 72 hours a week sucks.
Nice work. Checked the cam yesterday. Turkeys are hitting my little clover plot the same time each day. And yesterday there was a strutter in tow.
Not in Kansas. Friend of my folks is the largest landowner in the county. Had some folks tresspassing ice skating on one of his ponds. Gal fell and broke her ankle. His insurance had to pay for it.
Depends on the day. You can catch them out strutting trying to attract a hen. If its warm I target the woods near creeks where it is a little cooler. Cover ground calling trying to get a bird to...
I've killed very few before 10 am. I like 11 am to 330 pm. If I can get a bird to gobble between those hours he is taking a ride in my truck.
Thought of this thread tonight. Came real close to getting one with my truck on the way home from work.
A friend of my Dad only hunts them in jeans and plaid shirts. When I was getting into it and started buying camo he thought I was nuts.
I love it. We have 24 acres and we are adding 9 more. I drive by it everyday on the way to and from work. Its got turkeys, big deer, and quail. Also plan on adding a pond for waterfowl. House should...
See them fairly regularly around here. Had one with about a 10" beard cross in front of the truck 2 days ago.
So the clover is coming up and looking good in spots. However after a heavy rain last night there is water covering part of it. For this patch I may have to find a crop that can tolerate wet feet....
With this many hens around there has got to be a gobbler around somewhere.
Pork loin going on the smoker tomorrow while we go look for morel mushrooms.
From what I have seen yes. Saw a bird strutting across the road from my place last night. Also saw a strutter pushing 4 hens while I was at work. Can't wait to get days off and chase some.
So I don't know if we are off winter fuel, it's jus the warm weather, or things have gotten broken in, but the last two tanks have been 24.9 mpg and 25.59 mpg. I can live with that.
Waterfowl snack sticks
Went out to my place to listen. They gobbled their heads off this morning, even after hitting the ground. Be glad when this OT at works ends the end of the month and I can get after them hard.
Lots of sign on my place. No gobblers on the trail camera, but I have 3 jakes in the clover regularly.
Neighbor found the sheds I was after on his place. Taped out at 157" and that doesn't include spread.
I've got acre upon acre of honey locust I am cutting. THinking about having some of it cut for me. I have some bigger ones.
Interesting discussion on talk radio yesterday. It seems some PDs around here have had their good applicants withdraw and htey are having to lower their standards to recruit. Much of it based off of...
That and lawsuits. I was an EMT intermediate for about 10 years and carried malpractice insurance due to our litigious society. Also on my end of Healthcare we billed based on what Medicaid would...
Depends. If she sleeps with alot of guys including you she is a s1ut. Alot of guys but won't sleep with you then she is a who&#
We owned both. If you look somewhere on here I had a comparison thread. We still own DSD, but not Avian X. I also have a Dakota jake I bought new for $33 back in December from Midway USA. We will see...
