I've been an archer for nearly 50 years and I'm still shooting some really tight groups. My style of shooting is to leave my bow hand relaxed. I must wear a sling on every bow I shoot or it crashes to the floor. I learned this back in the early days of recurves and competition shooting. If you grip the bow, you torque it. If you relax, no torque and better flight. Naturally, as I shoot the bow falls away, naturally. When I tried a whisker biscuit type rest, I swear, about every couple arrows got smacked in the knock by the falling bow. They would fly irratically. One bad habit I had years ago was peaking. I would shoot, and drop the bow so I could see the arrow fly. This would remove the rest from under the arrow too quickly causing irratic flight. Wouldn't the drop away rest also cause this to occur? There's nothing like a good follow through, is what I have always practiced. I've made this statement to a few folks in the past but they didn't have the experience I have. I would like to hear from you here as to why whisker biscuit works for some and not for others, and why the drop away rest is better than a good follow through.
