Rodney, do I just give Amanda a call and order a new cam?
Yikes.... was it an accident or did he just not think you were serious...?

I just have to say this...

I got a call from Amanda. I just paid for my new toy. It's coming soon. Real soon.

I can't wait. I have the Arizona Iron Archer, a FITA 900, and a 3D shoot all in the next 4 weeks. And I will likely have my eXceed 300 in my hands doing it.

Yay!

Also bear in mind guys - I've ordered a bare riser - no paint, no anodizing, nada. Everyone tells me that if I do a bare riser, it bypasses a good 2 weeks of prep time.

Hehe. I look at it from this standpoint...

1) It's gonna be original. The black limbs and silver matte color of the bare aluminum will rock. I've always admired those guys who did the oven cleaner method of taking off the paint and had the bare riser look. It's a clean, industrial feel. I don't think any other staffer is insane enough to do it. It definitely will be one of a kind....I hope!

2) In the Arizona sun, it's gonna be shiny. Distract the competition!

3) The Accomplice 34 is gonna get relegated to permanent hunting status. I attached a .22 pellet Airow Gun to it, and I'm going small game hunting next weekend (after Thanksgiving) with it. Look out rabbits and small coyotes! 670fps of lead fun is heading your way. Pigeons in my neighborhood are already keeping away from my house in a 10 house radius thanks to the Airow Gun.

There are three major shoots that are left in my neck of the woods. I can't wait to show this thing off.

Yes Call athens.

More than likely they will request the bow back so they can go over it and make sure its 100%.

574-224-2300 but they wont be back in unitl Monday.

Man,, That sucks. Have someone dry fire your bow. Actually saw that happen yesterday at the range. Guy fired a dren, and totally destroyed it.

Old biker friend of mine told me years ago.

" If you can't afford to buy it. Don't ride it. And if you can't afford to lose it, don't let someone else ride it."

Same goes for bows.

on the athens forum i read one of the staffers just got his bow, he said his string came in black and grey. his wifes string came in black and orange. another staff member said that the 32s came black and grey and 34s came black and orange. tfosterjr got his yesterday (a 34) and his came black and grey. i thought all the 32s and 34s came with black and orange strings. i was just curious and thought i would ask. i almost ordered my sling today but want to make sure first. i ordered a 32"

Clarification:

When we first got our strings from ABB the strings for the 34/70 left us 2lb weak.

So we did place the Winners Choice grey/black strings on the 34/70 in order to make pounds.

The 32's were fine and so were the 34/60lb

I did not learn of this info until bows were already shipped out otherwise I would have posted the information.

There are two variants of the Airow gun.

One shoots your typical paintball in .68 caliber. It comes with a hopper feed and the only drawback is that you have to cock it single action.

What's cool is that it's quiet.

The other variant is one that uses a .22 caliber pellet. Using a 70 pound bow at 29" draw, you get about 675fps out of it....which is pretty accurate. I get 712fps at 73# and at 29.5" draw. While sighting this in my garage, a pellet zipped right through the 2" thick small phone book (those freebies that get thrown onto your driveway), and penetrated a PB Blaster aerosol can when using a pointed RWS pellet that I had leftover from another project. That was a mess.

So far, in the past 30 days, I've migrated this Airow Gun unit from a Mathews Genesis (one of the bows I use with students), to a Diamond Razor Edge (another teaching bow), to the Athens.

I've been able to snipe pigeons easily at 10-15 yards. My neighborhood has had a rash of pigeon issues, and now I can say that I am pigeon free in a 10 house radius. I used generic Crossman pellets out of this thing for pigeon removal.

I am now going to use it for going after rabbits. About 50 minutes away from my house is a huge rabbit haven, and small game can be taken at any time in Arizona. Some of these jackrabbits get pretty huge. I'm going to use either the Beeman 21 grain pellet or a Eun Jin 28.4 grain pellet.

I'm also going to try it with smaller coyotes.

Anyhow, this is likely going to be a permanent pairing. I love the responsiveness of it, and it also doubles as a trainer. An empty Airow Gun basically pushes air out, so you're not dry firing the bow.

Here's the before and after pics. The before was my normal target/3D setup....this was basically the same setup that I used to win the 2009 Papago FITA 900. The two after pics are what it is now....a pigeon smashing, pellet flinging machine.

Now, I will say that the Airow Gun will humble you. Any little movement in your form shows itself on the target.

Ironically, the humbling the Airow Gun provides ends up helping you in real life. I cracked the 1300 mark in a simulated FITA 1440 the other day. Ironically, I can say that shooting the Airow Gun helped a lot. Why? Minute of pigeon accuracy with an Airow gun means that you're gonna have far more accuracy with an arrow.

You can't jiggle, wiggle, or move. Form has to be perfect to get washer sized groups. And that translates to better form when shooting arrows.

I can't complain. Since I've had this thing for the past 30+ days, my scores have gone up. It's forced me to improve my form.

-Steve
