Here is what you need to think about between the Viper and the Goliath. If you are on the larger side (like me 6'2" 275) and you hunt where it gets cold (just about anywhere) the Goliath gives you more room to move when you are bundled up in winter clothes. I had a viper and it was more than comfortable when I was in two layers or less, but when I bundled up my clothing would make noise against the side of the stand as I stood up. It was not horrible, but if I had a deer close, it certainly made me think twice about standing up.

The difference in weight is not that much between the two, but having the extra 2" in width is certainly nice.

    Something to think about...
I totally agree with what you are saying, maybe because I am used to my old Baker stand, every newer stand looks big enough to live in. I have one used Viper in my area that I may go check out and if I can get it for the right price I probably will and just hope for the best, otherwise if I buy new I will probably just by the Goliath and be done with it. I still have plenty of stuff to buy before October and can't waste all my time dillydallying over this kinda thing. Summit climbers are getting good enough reviews and are easy enough to get locally that I will just buy one and be done with it. It doesn't sound like any of the stands suggested will have me squirming after 2 hours because my hind end fell asleep.
