Ill try to keep this short. I want to get into bow hunting. Muzzleloader and shotgun just don't do it for me anymore. I'm ready to jump off to my next big challenge. So here is my short list of issues. I'm 6'5"ish and i need at least a 31.5 draw from what im told. I'm also left eye dominant. I've called every single shop in my area and no one has anything at all that will work for me. Everyone is telling me to shoot as many bows as i can to see what i like. But the only way for me to find such a thing is to special order and bow. But then ill be stuck with the bow i order it at that point. I've never shot any bow in my entire life, so i have no idea what to look for.

I'm leaning towards Hoyt, a buddy of mine swears by them. I like the spec's on a Hoyt Faktor Long Draw.

Bottomline is that i need allot of help, any guidance would be a huge help for me right now.

Thank you in advanced, sorry for the sob story.

FIRST,
educate yourself so you learn the BASICS of form,
so you learn the BASICS of what a TOO LONG draw length looks like.

A quick search of "how's my form" threads...
will quickly show you what is TOO LONG, and what is not.

Ultimately,
the draw length setting that gives you the TIGHTEST arrow groups,
is the draw length for you.

Here are some SIMPLE tests,
you can do to get you a BALL PARK estimate for draw length settings requirements.

The unfortunate COMPLICATING factor for draw length...

the labels are NOT accurate,
and 99% of the time,
the bow draw length setting can run 1/4-inch LONG
the bow draw length SOMETIMES can run 1/2-inch LONG
the bow draw length SOMETIMES can be DEAD accurate, and match the label.

So,
how is a newbie shooter supposed to know,
if the bow is providing a draw length that MATCHES The label
if the bow is providing a draw length that runs 1/4-inch TOO LONG
if the bow is providing a draw length that runs 1/2-inch TOO LONG...

ANSWER.

None.

Buyer beware.

So,
now that you are informed...about draw length labels ...

here is a SIMPLE test.

Tape measure.

MEASURE from the middle of the sternum (centerline of your body)
to the wrist on your bow hand.

This is a good approximation.

Now,
the ACTUAL draw length setting that works BEST for you,
should be at this draw length setting or slightly shorter...

depending on your SHOOTING POSTURE.

This test gives you a MAXIMUM draw length size
to look for.

http://www.hoyt.com/assets/tune_charts/PE-9999-990-Pro-Comp-Elite-XL-Z-tune-chart.pdf

Hoyt ProComp Elite XL with the XT2000 limbs and the Spiral cams
goes to 32.5-inches for draw length.

I would have you try the 32-inch draw length size
and
I would have you try the 31.5-inch draw length size.

If a Hoyt pro shop has the RIGHT handed version in stock,
you can TEST drive the RIGHT handed version,
and use a eye patch to cover up your LEFT eye....for test driving purposes.
