Protien Drinks - What's in them? Lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic.....

I've made references to this article in a couple threads.

Thought I would just go ahead and post it in its own thread.

I cut way back on these powders a few years ago after getting a kidney stone. I think they do have benefits but the quantities the labels say to consume are way over what you need or can use. Also can have harmful side effects:

Actually, it's not, the stuff that Sam's sells is Eas 100% Whey Protein.

I don't know if it's any better, but it's a different product than EAS Myoplex.

the myoplex above is the premade "juicebox" style that is available everywhere. it is not the powdered whey, you mix with water (yuck!) or milk of your choice.

if you believe all the hype from ad campaigns, everything we eat or drink that is processed in ANY WAY will give us cancer and kill us.

do your own research and make your own conclusions and choices.

Protein is one of the body's main building blocks for muscle, bone, skin, and other tissues. Used often by athletes, protein shakes come in many combinations of protein, carbohydrates, and fats. Purists mix it with bottled water, putting nothing unknown into their bodies for a variety of personal reasons. Others mix it with any of a number of juices, orange or grape to arrive at a flavor they like. The body is able to make non-essential amino acids from other amino acids in the body. However, the body is not able to make essential amino acids and the only way to get them is by eating high quality protein foods.
