Steel drum broadhead test good way to test or not

Just wanted to see if you think it is a good way to test a broadhead or not a good way?

I don't think so, I don't buy them to shoot at steel...
I buy them...to try them on the real thing.

I think a lot of people miss the point of this test. This test is not to see how a head will perform on an animal, but rather how much punishment the head can take. I think this test just gives a person an idea of how well a head is made and whether is is tough or weak.

A fieldpoint would win this test time and again. Does that make it the best head to kill deer with?

Once again, this test has nothing to do with killing deer, but rather the strength and durability of the head's construction. try again.

I voted yes for what you described. Tough broadhead test. How would you test a broadheads toughness ? I'm just asking......

Def a yes vote for me. I know it has nothing to do with actually killing an animal. However, if a broadhead cannot go through a drum without losing a blade then I dont want to shoot it. Plain and simple.
I cut my arrows twice and they're still too short.

I am of the mind that a head must hold together. Shooting deer isn't the same thing as an elk or moose, bigger bones. I need that head to hold together and the drum proves that.

I like it as a test. it sure tells how tough they are when they go through without breaking. its definently more severe than a head needs to be to kill but imo it simulates heavy bone. I like to shoot heads through 1/2" chip board for a minimum strength test.

Back in 70's and early 80's I use to shoot Satelite broadheads. Lost a blade on just about every deer I shot. Man I hated that. Not good to be field dressing a critter knowing a blade may be inside.

Yes because the medium is consistent. You will bet a fair representation of the durability of a head. NOT it's potential performance on game. Just how well it will hold together

I agree it shows how tough they are and toughness counts. Besides if one blows through both sides of a barrel it is tough and sharp.. Randy

I think it's a good test for durability but a bad test for performance so I voted no.
Here is a test I would like to see all popular heads put through.

Good vid. I have seen another one by the reapers as well. However, I know of 2 people that lost reaper blades on deer. One of those guys sells them and pushes them pretty hard. The other is another shop ownes son.
