The Contender Elite

Just thought I would give a little report on the new bow. I shot it yesterday and all I can say is WOW! I walked into the range just set the bow up out of the box and tuned it by eye balling it. I then shot two Vegas rounds. I'm not in the best shooting shape and it held amazing. I then shot a 300 with 26x and a 300 with 29x. All I can say is Hoyt hit a home run with this one. I can't wait till the season starts. So I would have to say if your looking at getting a new target bow don't miss out on this one.

It has spirials and I will put up some pic's when I get off work sorry. It's been about a month ago since I won and it is crazy what that amount of time away from your bow will do.

I need a pic, I do not like spirals do the offer it in cam and half plus. I am just tired on buying bows with draw specific cams. I like to have a cam that has at least 2 to 3 inches of draw length change

Haven't seen the carbon bow yet but sure it's amazing. I'm also not sure what they are offering on the bow but I would think that it is offered in the cam and a half plus.

I have got to try a Contender Elite with Spirals and 2000 limbs.

I have a feeling its 315 IBO is way off and much nearer 325fps

There are pics floating around....it pretty much is an UE replacemnet

What's wrong with draw specific cams? Once you know your draw length it doesn't change more then a 1/4" up or down from bow to bow....why would one person need that big a of a draw range?

Only reason that I can think of for that amount of adjustability is resale......though I rarely buy a bow with the thoughts of how much money I'll be able to get from it when I sell it.

Did this bow replace both the Ultra and Pro Elite models? I didn't see either of them in the catalog anywhere...

Reo could shoot those scores with a suction cup bow. How is the Contender Elite supposed to be an improvement on the Ultra Elite and Pro Elite? I don't see it.

I haven't had one in my hands yet and I may change my mind when I do but as of right now I agree completly how is it an improvement.
If I wanted a 41" bow i would have ordered a Vantage Elite last year.
I like the specs on the Contender way better I wish they would have used those specs on the Contender Elite.

Is it just me, but can't you get the Contender and Contender Elite w/ your choice of XT2000 or XT3000 limbs? Then pick what cams you want also? Both bows have either a 38 or 41 inch ATA. Just have to decide if you want the Elite option. That's the way I saw it anyway. It also looks like the riser is similar to the "neutral geometry" riser that the 2007 38 series offered. Not delfexed, not reflexed. I'll be honest...the Contender Elite looks awesome, but...I REALLY like my ProElite.

The specs I saw only listed the 41" Contender Elite if I can get it at 38" and close to 7" BH @ 315 IBO or so I'm in.

You are correct, you can get either bow with your choice of 2000 or 3000 limbs, and Cam .5 or Spirals. Specs are the same. Just like the Vantage Pro and Vantage Elite. I don't know about everybody else but I am getting at least 10 fps more out of the Spirals on the Vantage than IBO. A Contender Elite may be in my future!

For some reason I can't get the catalog to download.
The only specs I saw were 41 3/4" but I have been informed that there is a 38" XT 2000 limb version that will be as close as I can get to my UltraElite.
I did notice that the threaded hole on the back side of the riser looks to be drilled straight in not angled like the Elites of the past.
That would be a real improvement.

Blue fusion, red fusion, cobalt blue, orange & black. camo/black options still available as well as custom pearl white.

The bow reminds me of the New Merlins. Just take a look at them. Limb pockets are similar, and the ATA choices are pretty similar.

I like the Hoyt's, but for a new target bow, it's gonna be a toss up. Cause price for the hoyt will be in the same range for the Merlin, and Merlins are really good quality.

Hmm, good question. But I guess it's way easier to sell one if it ain't draw length specific.
On the other hand, I know my DL wouldn't be the same if I had two very different bows, such as Martin MOAB and Scepter4. As I prefer to keep both my anchor and nose-string contact, the Moab's DL would have to be as much as 1/2'' longer and with D-loop shorter than on the S4.

Cause price for the hoyt will be in the same range for the Merlin, and Merlins are really good quality.

Don't take this the wrong way plz...as everyone has their own opinnion and likes or dislikes or fav flavors..but seriously i can't even believe u are even putting them in the same category for craftsmanship, as Hoyt... I'm ok with the loss of the Pro I never shot it. I would say that the Contender is going to be very consistent. Being the riser is longer. I will be shooting it a bunch today.

I was curious back in the spring as to whether or not the new AM-style pocket system would be incorporated into more models in 2010. Looks as though the design is a keeper. I was also sad to see the previous elite series were dropped... but man the new contender elite does look sweet... whew!

Is the contender riser geometry reflexed, neutral or deflexed?

Pro Elite and Ultra Elite fans alike will not be disapointed. In all honesty, the only difference between the Pro and Ultra was .75". The Contender Elite is a better bow. The pocket is tighter and the riser is stiffer. And trust me, it absolutly drills.

With the Contender all of you die-hard Ultratec cult members, you have your coveted geometry back in winning form.

It appears to me that the Ultratec, 38 Ultra, and Ultra Elite all got together, got a little too drunk, partied too hard, and a Contender Elite was born. From all the requests I've heard over the past few years on here of people saying "if they'd just do this and that..." this bow really should do anything anybody wants to do. A true Jack-of-all-trades.

I'm not ready to give up my Vantage Elite or Ultra Elite quite yet but if one of them were stolen or something then I'd be snatching one of these babies up.
