Best time to hunt in Ohio?
I went to Ohio a couple years ago the last week of October and it seemed the rut had begun since the buck I shot was rank and came to the can. I want to go again in 2010 and was wondering if someone from Ohio, or who hunts Ohio, could tell me which weeks I should be shooting for?

I've never been one to try to pin-point the rut. If I were planning a vacation I would focus on the last week of October-first two weeks of Novemeber. If I had to narrow it down to specific dates, I couldn't agree more with the dates stated above. Nov.12-17th is when I've killed my biggest bucks.

I don't like loose antlers
Have you ever have any fall off while dragging them?

Anytime you can hunt Ohio it's good, but last week of October all the way through the third week in November are good for bow hunting. January is also good, but...it's cold usually and I hate wearing too much stuff when I bow hunt. I took my muzzleloader with me Saturday for that reason and scored another nice doe. I killed my buck after grunt and can calls on November the 12th this year, but each of the last three years, it's been November 1 or 2.

Oct. 26th thrpugh Thanksgiving. The first 3 weeks of Nov. if you want to see rutting action. But I'd agree with Medicsnoke, Late January can be awesome over corn piles, especially if it's cold and snow on the ground.

There is really no good time to hunt in ohio anymore. Maybe you should try georgia.
