I read where you guys always use a piece of aluminum arrow that is an inch long. My question is.....Why use and inch piece of aluminum arrow and not a half inch piece of aluminum arrow? If the point is to protect the tip, then a half inch should be fine?
Thanks! I have 1 2018 and I need to foot a dozen Easton St Epic 600's and I didn't think that I would have enough 2018 if I cut it in one inch increments.
Ray, I'm wanting to foot some 340 FMJ's. I thought I saw somewhere that you shoot those. If so what alum is a good fit for those. I think the 1916 is supposed to fit good on the 400's. Same for the 340's?
I mix up some JB Weld. I first put JB Weld on the end of the shaft, slide the footing over the shaft, put JB Weld on the insert and then push it in. I then clean up the end of the shaft with a rag and make sure the insert is pushed all the way in and also make sure that the footing is pushed up against the insert. Let it cure. You also want to make sure that you don't get your JB Weld, if that is what you use, inside of the insert where the threads are.
