Went down yesterday at lunch.............
and got my deer tags. Season starts in 63 days!!! Sorry, just had to share.............I can't wait!

63 days? Holy cow...ours in Texas doesn't start for 148 days!!!

Yep! True. In California with archery equipment I hunt from July 10 to December 31st.

I was just browsing and seen this thread. I cant believe CA opens the season so early. Isn't it unbearably hot? Aren't your bucks still growing horns? Ours in WV dont shed til late Aug and even early Sept.

Yep it can be hot but remember we are not hunting Whitetail. We have Mule Deer, Blacktail and Pacific Hybrid. They don't seem to be as effected by warm weather as it seems the Whitetail are. In some areas of the state the rut hits as early as late Sept. Our deer shed in January. I have actually heard of people that have shot a buck in December and had an antler fall off.
