HELP: Does anyone know how to get rid of mold in rubber hunting boots?
I have a pair of gander mountain boots i bought last year to bowhunt with and they now have a mold smell after having it stored in a scent free tote in the off season. So if there is anyone that knows a way to get rid of the smell/ kill the mold that would be great. Thanks.

Never did it with boots, but you can try a mix of 1 part household bleach to 4 parts water then spray the inside of the boot(or dump some in ) and scrub it with an old toothbrush. Rinse it out and refill boot with 1/2 cup baking soda to 2gl water and let it sit overnight. rinse and sun dry. Be carefull with the bleach. Too strong or to long will weaken the fibers and fade the color. try to keep it off the outside of the boot.

Send an email to lacrosse (just tell them you have a pair of lacrosse boots) and ask them what to do. Their customer service is great, and they might know what to do that would be safe for rubber boots..

If it's an all rubber boot, just 2 washes of baking soda (cleaner and deodorizer)and water would probably do it. pour in a strong mix and scrub with your hand down in there. The bleach would only be needed to kill any mold left stuck in fibers and seams.

Try dusting them with Borax.

Bleach will kill it, then I'd get rid of the rubber boots. Rubber doesn't breathe, you'll continue to get funk in them.

Clean them with soapy bleach water. Then, if you dont already have one, go get a peet boot dryer (like 25-30 bucks) and dry them. Then, every time you are done with them, dry them....no more funky boots.

dry=no mold. put a dry chem pack in the container or...
Just put them in the sun and keep'm dry. Leave them out in the wood shed or something like that. They don't call things left in the sun "bleached" for nothing.
Mold is something found in the woods and a good thing.
