Primos Truth Cam 35 Photo Eval with Vids to come Later
I've been trying to Spread my pics between several other Peoples threads, But it gets kinda time consuming. So I am just gonna put it on one thread. I have had the cam for about two days. I ordered directly from Primos in Flora MS. I've been moving the settings around and trying the best Settings for me. I am fortunate as that I live out in the country by State land and that i don't have to travel far to Scout for Critters. A lot of the Critter's come down to my house. So it's easier to go through the pics and change the settings, if needed. I found the Instructions to be easy and the Words on the Cam itself self explanatory. I placed the 4 batteries in and a 4 GB SD Card. this cam take Pics and vids Both Day and Night. The only thing that i was partially concerned with was the Shutter noise others on here commented about. On a Quiet day, I can hear the shutter click about 10-15 feet away. As soon as the winds kinda picked up i no longer could hear the Shutter click. In Two days, i was able to take roughly 100 pics of Animals. I had the cam set on 3 Multi Shot mode every 10 seconds with the Sensor set on Normal. I did have three pics of the CRP field with no Animals in it from strong winds blowing the vegetation around. When i placed the sensor on HIGH. Now i have it back to 3 Multi Shot burst with the NORMAL Sensor, for photo's with a delay of 1 minute. I am very happy with the camera now and it is now placed somewhere on a mountain side ready to take pics. I will retrieve it sometime on Monday and switch out the SD card. if all goes well for the location. I will switch it over to Video and see if i can get a Good size buck to come into view. All i did was place the cam on a Deer trail that funnels down to Squeeze point where deer need cross a Low fence to get to a Alfalfa field.
Here's some Website info about this Primos Truth 35....

Well, I went up and checked my SD card. I had over 663 Pics taken. Most of them were of the High grass blowing. i had the cams Sensitivity set on NORMAL. But I had no control over a Windstorm coming through which made the cam prematurely take pics. I'm going back up this afternoon to a new spot. The good pics of Deer were mainly Does, Fawns and one small buck. So i need to switch location. I placed my fiberglass pole in a Bush and had the TrophyBlend Sage and Mule Deer Blend Sticks taped to the fiberglass rod.
I looked at this camera at bass pro yesterday, but didn't buy it cause i hadn't heard anything about it. I'm glad you posted i may reconsider and go pick one up to try.

Thanks for the Post. I wasn't sure anybody cared and maybe I was wasting my time. But if it helps you make a trail cam decision. I will keep posting more pics. I will try to do upload video in a few days. Thanks for posting a comment.
What is the distance between the camera and the scent stick? I'm trying to decide if the camera's IR range will satisfy me. I'm trying to decide between the 35 and the 46. I've checked out Chasingame.com but was hoping for more feedback on these cams. Thanks for the post and pics.

The Pics of the Raccoons is the farthest. That is around 29 feet. The ground slopes up. The Deer pics on the grass closer are at 20 feet. I went out and measured it for you to be accurate. The one of the doe on the brownish hillside is around 12-15 feet.
Thanks for checking those distance for me. Definitely helps to have an AT member providing feedback. I might pick one of these up for a small area I'd like to monitor. Think I might need a SpyPoint or ScoutGuard that would provide farther range (50-60 ft). Good day pics. I don't know why, but I'm focused on quality & range of night/ir. Maybe for planning those early AM hunts.
Thanks for starting this thread.

I'm glad that my thread helped with your Camera buying decision. This is the base model. They have 2-3 more higher models. They state that this model has a 3-40 night range. it could be the way i have the cam Positioned Could be affecting it. This is the first ever cam I bought. So I'm still fiddling with the Controls and Cam position. I would gladly accept Positive Comment on how to postion my cam better. I was messing around with the Video. I have two 30 second vids I'm waiting to upload. My Computer skills are not the best.
It looks like the camera is about 4 ft off the ground. (based on pics...looks like straight on shots of deer) If you are able to elevate the camera to about 6-8 ft with a slight angle downwards there may be more range. All in all, the set up looks good for the camera's ability. IMO

Thanks. its easy to adjust the cam and place it anywhere on my Private property. It's kinda harder when i put it on Public Property. I try my best to hide the cams from people. So it's not as visible to people but can still take picture of the deer.
A Mile and a half hike and the cam is at it's new location. It will stay there for about 4 days. I tried to upload a 30 second Video to Youtube to post here and it told me it would be 41 minutes. I'm gonna wait till later on tonight when my Sat broadband is faster to upload. Thanks for the kind words and PM's i've been receiving.
I just purchased a 35 last week and have been playing with it at home.... I am quite impressed with the quality photos and trigger speed, for an inexpensive trail cam this is definitely a good buy.

I agree with you. This is my first Scouting Cam. When i had it behind my house, I couldn't leave the thing alone. lol.
My brother and I both picked one up. I have the 35 and he has the next better model (60 I think). We were both concerned about the shudder noise. I haven't set mine out yet, but my brother has. The deer definately hear the shudder. When you set the camera on 3 shot bursts, the deer are always looking at the camera for the second and third shots. However, he did get a ton of nice pictures. Despite the shudder noise, we both agree - it seems to be a really nice camera; much better than the ones we've previously owned.

That was my only gripe with it. Was the Shutter sound. others before me have posted about it and i commented on it on post number 1. But it's not a harsh Sound. The animals if they are close enough will turn and look at it. But it's not a fear look. I have many deer pics where the deer hear the sound then come up to the cam to sniff it to check it out, then go back to feeding. I have video but i'm having trouble uploading it to Youtube. 20 second video taking 41 minutes to upload, does that sound right?

Thats a good price if Cabelas is near to you. I think the Msrp is around 110-115 for the base model 35.
