    a question on the weight of a field dressed bear

    a freind of mine shot a bear in Maine the other day that field dressed at 480 lbs...what would the live weight be ??? if anyone has a chart that they could post I would appreciate it ... (no pics yet)

    Dressed weight x 1.18 = live weight. This is the convertion that the PA Game Commission uses.

    480 x 1.18 = 566lbs. sounds good thanks

    A bear that size has about 70 to 80 lbs of insides. Or, about 13% of the total body weight. Deer are about 20% of total body weight.
