Seems like every year that I fish down there the fishing gets worse. I think that the walleye population has been slowly going down for the past 10 years. The only exception was the bumper crop from 2003 that made 2006 awesome.

kennie it usually starts the middle of march and goes thru the end of april over at the maumee river last year i was starting to catch walleye on march 16th it all depends on water temp as to when the come in to spawn water temp needs to be 40-42 degrees its at around 33 34 right now. A great website to follow when its time is maumee tackle they give daily reports starting march 1st its a bait and tackle shop right on the maumee go to river updates and they will tell you when there being caught where there being caught water temp and water level hope this helps bud. If you have never tried it give it a shot you will be hooked its a blast

Those are spawning walleyes? Are they finicky this time of year? In Quebec we can't fish walleye until the third week end of may on most years.

I get ya, I meant to say are you guys fishing walleye during the spawning period? Our walleye spawn from mid april to mid may and it is stricly forbidden to fish in spawning waters or during the spawning period.

Oh yeah we are allowed 4 fish a day till may and it goes up to 5, anglers are encouraged to throw back females with eggs still but not required
