    UFC 145 Jones vs. Evans

You know, we used to do these all the time, and have quite a bit of fun discussing and picking winners. Not sure why we got away from it (maybe the number of events now), but I'd like to get it started back up. Here are the fights:

    Main Event
    Jone Jones vs. Rashad Evans

    Main Card
    Rory Macdonald vs. Che Mills
    Brandon Shaub vs. Ben Rothwell
    Miguel Torres vs. Mike Mcdonald
    Mark Homminick vs. Eddie Yagin
    Mark Bocek vs. John Alessio

    FX Prelims
    Travis Browne vs. Chad Griggs
    Matt Brown vs. Stephen Thompson
    John Makdessi vs. Anthony Njokuani
    Mac Danzig vs. Efrain Escudero

    Facebook Prelims
    Keith Wisniewski vs. Chris Clements
    Marcus Brimage vs. Maximo Blanco

    My picks are in bold

Number of events did get a little out of control for a while. I know I had a hard time keeping up. Seems to have slowed down a little lately. This will be the first PPV I've watched in quite a while. UFC 146 is looking to be a pretty good card too at the end of next month.

As for tomorrow night, my picks in bold...

    Jone Jones vs. Rashad Evans

    Main Card
    Rory Macdonald vs. Che Mills
    Brandon Shaub vs. Ben Rothwell
    Miguel Torres vs. Mike Mcdonald
    Mark Homminick vs. Eddie Yagin
    Mark Bocek vs. John Alessio

    FX Prelims
    Travis Browne vs. Chad Griggs
    Matt Brown vs. Stephen Thompson
    John Makdessi vs. Anthony Njokuani
    Mac Danzig vs. Efrain Escudero

    Facebook Prelims
    Keith Wisniewski vs. Chris Clements
    Marcus Brimage vs. Maximo Blanco

I'm not a Rashad hater, but I don't think he's as good as he believes he is. I know he's had some nice KO's, but who has he really beaten? Forrest? Bisping? Liddell and Tito who were both on their way out? I think Jones handles him easily and early. Probably Round 2.

Not real sure Escdero has a chance against Danzig, but I picked him because I'd like to see him win. It was fun to watch him on TUF & I wouldn't mind seeing him get some momentum in the UFC.

I used to like Rashad before he became arrogant. While I don't dislike him, I like Jones and regardless of like or not Jones is tooooo much for Rashad. Now a right hook from anyone can put things away and Rashad has knockout power, but when I think of jones I say......Shogun, Machida, Rampage, etc!

I am not a rashad fan. I dont care for his fight style either.

Jon Jones was on the Jim Rome radio show this week and i thought he seamed like a guy with a good head on his shoulders...a guy that really wants to stay the best and will keep working at it...

I think jones 84" reach will keep rashad at bay. Jones seems like a down to earth dude right now so I hope the hype don't change him!!

I graduated from the same high school as Jon Jones but a year later (2005 vs. 2006). I wrestled on the same wrestling team...what a great guy and a great athlete. He's got this one wrapped up!

My picks are exactly the same as kravguy.

I don't think Rashad will have anything more to offer Jones than any of his other victims. Jones gets better every fight and I'm looking for a head kick to ends Rahad's night.

I liked the fight before Jones vs evans more. Alot of action

The jones vs evans fight was exactly how I thought it would be. SLOW and BORING. Both are good fighters and both know not to make stupid moves. I knew Jones would end up taking it, he is a monster. Deffinatly glad I didnt pay for it though.

    thoughts on fights..

When I was thinking how the main event would play out, I came up with 2 scenarios. One would be someone would score with a quick knock out with all the emotions getting to the other fighter. The other way I was thinking pretty much went exactly like the fight. IMO, you cannot take 2 guys that know each other and train together for that long, put them in the cage and really expect a great fight. You'd either have 1 guy easily taking care of the other, which would show that this fighter didn't belong in there in the first place. Or, you could have 2 guys that knew exactly what the other likes to do and what his tendancies are, and have them kind of cancel each other out. The fight had to happen now, but it would have been better if they would have been training a part for longer than a year or so.

The one thing that surprised me was how Rashad went into the same mode every other fighter went into while fighting Jones. It's like they just start watching him and follow right into Jone's gameplan. During the prefight shows, I thought Rashad had a pretty good game plan and idea of what he wanted to do in there. He talked about wanting to be on the inside and all of that. I thought he would come out, find his range, and then try to stay in the pocket where Jone's reach wouldn't be such an advantage. Didn't happen though.

I thought Rory looked good, but was probably lucky Che sucks at wrestling and getting off his back. Che was winning the standup until he was taken down and destroyed from there.

The UFC spends so much time on all of the pre show, primetime stuff going over the main even fighters, I wish they would do a little bit on each of the other fights. You have that many new guys coming out, you don't really know anything about them, up until they win a few fights. I had no idea how good that Mike Mcdonald kid is. He killed Torres, and pretty much did it without working up a sweat.

I thought Ben Rothwell looked real good too. I was surprised to see him in that good of shape.

The only other fight I was surprised with was Homminick. The loss of his trainer and I think his brother-in-law too, has really seemed to affect his fighting. Then he acted really disappointed with the out come of the fight, like he forgot what happened in the 1st 2 rounds. That 1st round could have been scored a 10-8, and probably should have.

Ohhh I haven't been in this neck of the woods in a long long time. Maybe it's time I come back and play again
