    Pet Peeve

I wish people would fill out their profile-----I find it annoying sometimes exchanging ideas or thoughts with people I don't know or have a clue about. Sometimes you wind up in to big hairy debates with youngsters that are repeating things they heard without any knowledge of what they are talking about. Either they are embarrassed about who they are or have no faith in who they are. Just an observation.

Although what is in a members profile "could" be total hogwash,I agree with Dale on this one.I almost always try to check their profile when dealing with or wondering about the validity of their responses.I figure if they have no profile then their must be a reason.

Other than dealing with someone, I really don't care about their profile.

Everyone deserves the same respect IMO. If further information is needed, its pretty easy to just ask in a post or a PM.

However, it is easier to put a foot in the mouth if you have no idea about the person.

Good way to keep you more honest, LOL.

    Hi Dale,

I'm 40 but just as ignorant as I was when I was 15.

I've never filled out my profile, not more than a few fields at least. I list my location and maybe one or two others.

I can see why you'd like to research someone a bit maybe for buy/sell reasons, but I don't see why my "Favorite Books" or stuff like that has any impact on how seriously you take me as an archer...

Edit: In fact Dale, you've got just about as many empty fields in your profile than I do! Lol

I also do most of my browsing in Tapatalk for iPhone and don't have the ability to update my profile from it.

I'm not a member of many forums, but the ones I am, I like to feel I am part of that "family". I sure don't think it hurts to know some background of your "family members". You'll find mine a little more in depth than most.

Ya'll come back now, ya hear?

it never fails to amaze me when i find myself agreeing with Dale. i think if you're gonna post on threads where there is a difference of opinion you ought to be man (or woman) enough to say who you are.
Can you point me toward the target, please?

What does my profile actually tell you about who I am though? You know I'm from Connecticut and I like to shoot my bow. What else in my profile is going to validate my opinion on anything? Lol

With or without a profile, after awhile it's not hard to know who has experience and credibility---except for that time I argued for 3 days with a 15 year old.

I don't really need someones profile when discussing things in this forum, but, it would be nice to have something to research on a person that is selling products in the classifieds.

I would like to see it required that members have to list the state they live in. That way when you are buying or selling something you have an idea of shipping costs.

I think it is pretty easy to see who they are by their posts, I don't bother to look at many profiles....unless I'm on a dating site

So this bothers you enough that you're up at 2:53 AM to post about it?

I just tried to edit my profile and that area where you have to answer the question, "what do you attach a field point to?" keeps saying that I am entering the incorrect format.????

LOL... it was 5:53 by my computer. After many years of being a golf course superintendent, I was on my second pot of coffee by then.

I've never needed to look at someone's profile to decide the validity of their opinion. Many people give there "identity" pretty clearly by the tone of their post.

I also agree it would be nice to know a liitle about some of the people here but gotta take what ya get I guess. The problem is most of whats posted on the profiles can all be made up anyway.

Why? So you can justify how right you are because you are older and have been doing this longer? It shouldn't matter who the person is. If they're right then they're right. Could it be possible that someone younger could know more than you? Blasphemy!! There was a post a week or so that you made and were quite belittling and it just so happened that the person you belittled is a top 20 pro. He's won Vegas, nationals, etc...in the same year. I'm guessing you didn't know that and would have changed your tune had you known that. Not the way to go about things.

My profile isn't going to be filled out, here or on any other forum I belong to. I don't put out that level of personal information on a public database. Call me paranoid if you will.

If you want to conduct business, a profile isn't going to give me an idea of what you're like. Your feedback and your PM's will tell me 90% of what I need to know. The other 10% is the risk you run conducting transactions on a Forum such as AT.
