I have been a faithful IBO supporter for going on 10 years, I attended the NY State IBO Chamionships this weekend hosted by Active Bowhunters of Western NY. Ok I have shot the state shoots every year as well as worlds and various legs of the NTC. This same club hosted the states about 5 years ago, me and a friend attended after that day I vowed to never return to Holland, NY (the home of ABWNY). Fast forward to 2012 against my better judgment I returned to 3 Valley Resort to shoot our state shoot and show support. From the get go it was dejavue, sketchy shots, staggered shooting stakes resulting in damaged arrows, beat up old repaired targets, poor target selection (three jake turkeys and 5 javelina for starters) No equipment checks whatsoever! After shooting and hiking the courses for 4 plus hours return to clubhouse to hand in cards no food available, also no water on the courses.
Before people try to lynch me, I shot ok and anyone that knows me and what I do for the sport will know it has no bearing on these accusations. My congratulations to all the winners as the courses were very tough.
Back to the matter at hand, we as shooters and supporters spend a ton of $$$ and time preparing for shoots and to drive 4 hours or more to deal with these conditions is ludacriss.....So with NY being a stout IBO state with many able and willing clubs...I ask again when will the IBO stand up, and hold clubs to professional standards?
