what is a good, scentless, insect repellent?

I was looking around the newest Cabelas Archery catalogue, and happened across BEN'S INSECT REPELLANT. (98%pure Deet).

I also happened to see SAWYER PERMETHRIN CLOTHING INSECT REPELLANT.

How do these insect repellants work. In other words...do they work?

I was curious to know if used in a hunting situation, would they have a strong enough smell to alarm game?

Are these good HUNTING insect repellants...or are there better?

And just FYI...I am only interested in spray on lotions...and not a Thermacell thingy.

Sawyers for the ticks and chiggers...thermocell for the flys and mosquitos. I prefer to avoid lymes and west nile.

My brother uses Sawyer Premium Permethrin Clothing Insect Repellent to check his game cameras and he wades through armpit high grass and hasn't gotten a single tick or chigger on him. He walks through stuff that the deer, possums, bobcat, etc, go thru and he still hasn't gotten a tick or a chigger.
    Stuff must work.

    Thanks, guys!

I ended-up ordering the large bottle of SAWYER PERMETHRIN CLOTHING INSECT REPELLANT to pretreat my clothes, tent, and gear. (Placed a large order from Cabelas recently to jump on their $5.00 shipping sale price, and included the Sawyers above).

I also went with a scentless 98.11% Deet formula lotion. (REPEL 100). Wifey had an awesome dicount coupon, and we only paid $3.00 for the large bottle at Sports Authority.

Should do the trick for spot-n-stalk.

The other stuff can be used back at base camp.

Thanks for the pertinant input, folks.

I have used Sawyers, great stuff, but the Thermacell is the bomb. Just don't use some scent free deet, I had some Colman stuff on last year and deer blew at me during a pre season observation session. I thought the stuff was going to be the answer, 99% deet and came in a pen size pump spray applicator, just right for the pack. Wrong.

    Sorry, brother...

but for the life of me, I cannot understand what you said.

I understood the part about the SAWYERS...but not about the Deet.

Are you saying that the deer could still smell the "scentless" Deet?
